Short News: DS9: Original Sin confirmed as the January 2018 novel

Ever so slowly the fog around the formerly mysterious DRG novel Original Sin continues to clear.

After initially one could only speculate that it would be a Star Trek novel , a little digging suggested that it would be a DS9 novel dealing with the Robinson.

After a blog post by David R. George III on his website confirmed that he has a Star Trek Novel slated for late December without naming a title or series, another blog post now revealed some further information:

In an interesting blog post about the editing process of a Star Trek novel (you should really take the time to read the whole piece, as I don't think we had the process broken down in such detail yet), he confirms that his late December novel is indeed the "mysterious" Original Sin, and through posting a picture of the in-book title page he also (unintentionally?) confirms that it will be DS9.

A few days ago, I received an e-mail from Ed Schlesinger, my administrative editor at Pocket Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint. He informed me that CBS Consumer Products had sent along their notes on my latest manuscript, a Star Trek novel called Original Sin.

News: Indications that Titan Books secured English Language rights for Star Trek: Prometheus trilogy

A listing on amazon.ca and other amazon outlets for Star Trek Prometheus - Fighting Fire with Fire by Christina Humberg and Bernd Perplies indicates that Titan Books has secured the English Language rights for the Star Trek Prometheus trilogy originally published in German last year by Cross Cult. The title is listed for November 28th 2017.

There are no listings for this book on any of the either online retailers as far as I'm aware and listings for the other two books are nowhere to be found, but I would be surprised if the other two wouldn't be released rather soon after the first book.

If you are unaware of the Prometheus trilogy: Cross Cult, the publisher of the German translation of Pocket'sStar Trek novels published an original German language Star Trek trilogy set after the "The Fall" novel with an original crew onboard the U.S.S. Prometheus. You can find the covers and translated blurb from the German version by clicking on the Prometheus label on the right or just here.

News: David R. George III confirms Star Trek novel for late December

In a recent blog post about how he ended up writing for Star Trek on his new website DRGIII.com David R. George III confirmed that he recently finished writing a Star Trek novel slated for the January 2018 slot (meaning it will be out late December):

Not that long ago, I completed my eighteenth Trek novel, currently scheduled as a January 2018 release, meaning that it will be out at the end of December this year.

DRG III made no further info available as of this posting, but as I speculated earlier there is a chance that this will be a novel called Original Sin, dealing with the U.S.S. Robinson in the Gamma Quadrant.

Curiously the listing for Original Sin has vanished from Simon and Schuster's website just when David confirms he has written a Star Trek novel for the date listed for Original Sin. If that has any further meaning or is just due to updating the listing with further information soon is not clear at the moment.

Short News: First Discovery Novel will be called Desperate Hours

On his website David Mack now list the first Discovery novel as Desperate Hours and gives a January 2018 release date.

Update: David Mack has clarified that the January release date is just a place holder

Titan: Fortune of War to be released on November 28th 2017

David Mack now has listed November 28th 2017 as the release date for his Titan novel Fortune of War on his website.

This makes Fortune of War the December release for the Star Trek novel line, so that only the August and November slots are still unknown at this point beyond the May slot which most likely will remain vacant because of the delays of both Kirsten Beyer's next Voyager novel To Lose the Earth and David Mack's first Discovery novel.

Edit: Originally I stated that only the November slot was empty but it was pointed out to me by @ryan1234560 on Twitter that  the August slot is vacant as well.
